Story
Teaching is one of the most rewarding, yet hardest jobs in the world. At times I’ve felt a mixture of emotions because of it, and even considered quitting.
The coronavirus pandemic has removed many of the certainties that I have clung on to (progress, interaction), and replaced it with uncertainty and anxiety, and I know this is the case with many who work in education. Coping mechanisms have also been ripped away, and isolation and depression have become huge problems.
I’ll be doing the ‘English Channel’ Conqueror Challenge in one go, running 33 kilometres (a half-marathon plus 10k) on my cross-trainer on the 1st May, and following that by joining my colleagues at school and in my community by fasting for Ramadan for a week.
I’m raising money for Education Support as it is the only UK charity dedicated to the mental health and wellbeing of education staff in schools, colleges and universities. They provide a free 24/7 helpline and financial grants to teachers in need. It’s an excellent charity for those in need.
Even if your donation saves one person, it will have been worth it.
