Story

My name is Daniel Taylor and I’m an Army Nurse currently based at the Royal Centre of Defence Medicine in Birmingham. Earlier this year I was involved in a car accident which wrote my car off, luckily I walked away only with minor injuries, thankfully not requiring a trip to hospital. However two days following the car crash, my Fiancée found out she had a miscarriage.

With not only having to look after myself and coming to terms with what happened to myself, I needed to support my Fiancée on the tragic news which came to a shock to the both of us. All with  restrictions due to COVID in place.

Without the help and support from my Chain of Command from my unit, I feel I would not have been able to physically and mentally come through the other side on such something which I can only describe as an emotional rollercoaster.

From speaking to members over the phone, Teams, and even just a WhatsApp to ask if I/we were ok and if we needed anything. This was the first time in over 13 years of being in the Army, I needed help and support. Everyone was so supportive and checking in to see if we were ok and just coming to terms with what happened.

A few months later, unfortunately my Fiancée had another miscarriage. I informed my Chain of Command, and again they supported not only myself but also my Fiancée. Giving us the time to greave and come to terms with the news, but knowing they were only a phone call or message away if we needed someone to talk.

Following this me and my Fiancée are now married at last, due to COVID a 3 rd trying worked. As a result of all the support and help to me and my Wife, I am going to run the Stoke on Trent Half Marathon in September 2021. A way of giving back and to help other people if they need support. This proves the Armed Forces is a community and we all need help from time to time.

Any donation to the QARANC Association would be greatly appreciated.

Our Motto is FRIENDSHIP and we try and maintain that through our branches, which organise functions, and events where members can meet up.Whether we are catching up with friends old and new at social events; fundraising; advising on benevolence or welfare matters, or just providing a shoulder to lean on, our natural willingness to help past and present members stems from the tradition and camaraderie that only Army Service life can instill. Everything we do links back to our Motto FRIENDSHIP.

About the charity

The Association joins together in practical friendship all who are serving or have served in the Corps, irrespective of rank, sharing in its record, its achievements, tradition and history. Our Motto is FRIENDSHIP.
