Story
Rolf died the night between the 14th and 15th March, almost 2 years ago.
What that means for me and the hole he left in my life is only mine and does not belong to any social media.
But I do want to share something that was dear to him. The morning before he died, when he asked to be taken to the MacMillan Unit in
Christchurch, knowing that would be his last journey, he spent his last
conscious hours in the studio working on the production of his band’s CD, he wanted that to be his legacy, something to leave behind that would help us all remembering him for one of the many things he was. A meticulous, extremely talented, borderline annoying, music god.
The CD is now ready, thanks to our friends Simon and Aimee who selflessly worked to finish it and honour their promise to Rolf. It is a
beautiful piece of music and it’s not just Rolf’s, it’s the work of a great band, Thirstyman, who I will miss seeing live. It is full of beautiful words and melodies written by Peter Thompson.
Cancer touches your life in a way nobody should ever experience.
The work Macmillan do to help people through that and the way they cared for Rolf is something I will never be able to thank them enough for.
What I can do is respect Rolf’s wish and use his legacy to contribute to their work.
You can help by making a donation and buying Part Sunlight, Part Water by Thirstyman. You can help by sharing this with your friends and family.
Every single penny you donate will go to MacMillan.
Thank you.
PS please write your email address in the message box before completing the donation so that I can contact you privately to post the CD
