Story

Now, I am worried about this race! It's the furthest I have EVER run and my training has been insufficient to say the least! I consider myself to be pretty fit and I'm very active in my job as a trailblazer bootcamps instructor but 13.1 miles for me, is ambitious!! So I am going to need all the support I can get to get me across that finish line!

The pain in my legs and the burn in my chest is a drop in the ocean compared to the pain and suffering that many women and girls (across the globe - not just in leeds!) have endured and indeed still maybe enduring. SARSVL are a fantastic charity and knowing that what I can do in a few hours (we'll see!!) and with a bit of sweat on my brow can do to help them continue to provide the excellent services they can for sure will push me towards the end.

To continue my training in the run up to the race on Sunday I will be at every Trailblazer bootcamp on an evening joining in with fellow Trailblazers as I instruct so please come along and support me there and join in on the action yourself! See the website for all class information: www.trailblazerfitness.co.uk and I will be running short distances (5-10k) everyday. Wish me luck!

SARSVL are a feminist organisation that exists to support all women and girls who have been affected by sexual violence of any kind at any time in their lives. They promote their needs and rights and work towards the elimination of sexual violence.

Government statistics how that 1 in 5 women (aged 16 – 59) have experienced some form of sexual violence since the age of 16. The same study reported that 28% of women who are victims of the most serious sexual offences never tell anyone about it, and SARSVL know from their experience within the Rape Crisis movement that only around 15% of women and girls who experience sexual violence ever report to the police.

SARSVL are working hard to support women and girls and change these statistics. Unfortunately to be able to do this they rely entirely on donations and a small amount of grant funding so any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!
