Story
Athene Communications Managing Director, Richard Astle and DT Architects Director, David Turnock along with friend Tony Bovill have signed-up for a 12 day trek from the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean Coast - setting off in just four weeks time!
This will be Richard's final 'Chairman's Challenge' as steps down as Chairman of Shine, after 13 years, on 3rd November.
This varied itinerary is going to put the team through their paces as they make their way through coffee plantations and dense tropical rainforest.
The team who have 100% self-funded this trip, are raising money for Shine - the national charity supporting over 11,000 people affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with over 250 members in Cambridgeshire.
Funds raised from the trek will enable Shine to continue providing unique vital services to families, carers, and professional care staff.
Services here in Cambridgeshire include:
- home and hospital visits to the families of newborns with the condition(s)
- an Independent Futures event in Peterborough for Shine's young adults to educate and empower them
- monthly support and social groups for Shine's youngest members 0-5 years and their families
- visits to local schools to support the and inclusion of children with the conditions
- intensive support for Shine members with social or learning difficulties
Every donation has the potential for profound impact.
THANK YOU for supporting Shine!
