Story
Alice Underwood is 8 years old and suffers from a rare genetic disorder called Glycine Encephalopathy.
There is currently no cure, limited treatment and the condition has an average life expectancy of just two years old. Alices body cant break down the amino acid glycine and as such toxic levels build up in her brain, organs, blood and tissues causing extensive physical and mental disabilities.
With gene therapy on the horizon for many similar conditions it is estimated that better treatment and possibly even a cure for Glycine Encephalopathy could be a reality with in 5 years if research can continue to be funded. Almost all funding for research into this rare condition is done by the parents of approximately the 500 to 1000 surviving cases worldwide.
Please help me do my bit towards making this a possibility for Alice and all the other children who are living on borrowed time.
