About The Cause: The new cancer treatment centre has been designed to improve patient experience. It will offer a holistic approach to cancer care by co-location of treatments and support in a safe and human environment.Chemotherapy treatment is already given in Basingstoke  and Winchester, but patients have to travel to Southampton or Guildford for radiotherapy. This can mean a journey everyday for up to six weeks when patients are feeling unwell and vulnerable.

Why I Want To Fundraise: It’s a sad thing to say but now the stats are 1 in every 2 people will have cancer in their lifetime, it’s likely that many of us may well have friends/family or loved ones that will need this centre in the future. 

Why Shaving Hair Off? Although I have fairly short hair anyway, anyone who knows me well will know I have had an obsession with my hair for years! It’s always been my security blanket! As soon as I’m down or need a pick me up I have my hair cut, styled , coloured etc and it always makes me feel great agsin . So this is a big deal for me!

However, if I were seriously ill I wouldn’t have the choice to loose my hair, and having lost my father and friends to cancer, and seen the horrific  effects on the body it has, I feel that my hair should really not matter to me as much as it does!

I have chosen to shave my hair with the pure intention of raising as much money as I possibly can, for such a valuable, local cause that desperately needs funds. I’m hoping my nearest and dearest appreciate that this is the hardest thing I could think of to do to raise funds, and support me. 

I am both petrified and excited about my event, and it has taken a lot of thought taking into account my children, job etc. Not to mention the fact it will take around 6 months for me to have any sort of hairstyle again ! So I would really appreciate as much support as possible and to make doing this really worthwhile.

My fund raising starts now but I am holding my main fund raising event on Saturday 1st December from 6pm until late so please save the date. This will be when my hair will be coming off and will be a fun open evening at our house at the address below:

A few drinks will be provided, as well as pizza,  but please bring a bottle and a donation and I promise a fun evening full of music, giggles and fun . I appreciate it’s near Xmas so stay as little or as long as you like , even if you can only make it for half an hour it’s the donations that count.
