Story

Daring Den's Triathlon Friday 18th March 2022

Since undergoing lifesaving open heart surgery at New Cross Hospital in 2017, I have received on-going post operative support from registered charity - Have A Heart- Wolverhampton Coronary Aftercare Support Group (W.C.A.S.G.) and I want to try and help the charity with some fundraising, which I am hoping you can help me with. .......

UPDATE .....OK, realisation is kicking in and I’m getting ready to live up to my self appointed title “Daring Den”. Friday in just a few days off, so I’m getting my equipment laid out and checked over, ready for the off.

First event is 1500 metres swimming, not much needed for this, just a pair of trunks and a towel, and remembering to take a pound coin for the locker. Public swimming session at Darlaston baths is 07.30 till 09.15 on Friday.  I aim to start the swim about 7.30 a.m. 1500 metres is 60 lengths and that should take me just over an hour.  Then back home for a bit of sustenance.

Second event is 40 kilometers on the bike for the cycling. The aim is to start the cycling at 11.00 a.m.  I have the offer of support on the ride from one of my regular cycling buddies, so that will keep me company (and safe). The planned cycling route is from Coppice Farm (WV12), through Essington, Coven, Brewood, Bishops Wood, Codsall, Bushbury, Ashmore Park, then back to WV12.  A local circuit or two will make up any short distance.

Third event is 10 kilometers, on two legs (walking).  Hope to get a support walker on this bit also.  Planned route is Coppice Farm (WV12) then Essington, Ashmore Park, and back to Coppice Farm.  Two circuits should make the distance.

Wish me luck, and keep the sponsorship coming in.  I will update the page after completion…. With news on how it all went.
