YOU'VE DONE IT! We're just two pillocks on a tandem who cycled 301 miles in four days. But you've all been brilliant with your hugely generous support and kind messages – so thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We completed the challenge pretty much in one piece. As did our fantastic tandem complete with Minion Trev on the back. We were sore and tired but your unrelenting support means we've far exceeded our target. We simply couldn't have done it without you... Thank you so much on behalf of Simon, Chris and Jack's family.

To mark our 50th birthdays we're cycling 300 miles in just four days on a tandem – dressed as Minions. And we're doing it for a great cause.

We've been inspired to raise funds for NPUK by 16-year-old Jack, a member of our sons' youth football team who was recently diagnosed with Niemann-Pick Type C (NP-C).

NP-C is a rare inherited neurodegenerative disease. It is caused by a build-up of lipids (fats) in the liver, brain and spleen. The condition is gradually affecting Jack's motor skills, balance, speech and eye movements.

Football-mad Jack is a friendly and popular member of Long Buckby Stags Under 16s and has played with the team for 10 years. Despite the daily challenges he faces, Jack is determined to continue to train and play for the Stags.

His popularity was recently proven when Jack's team mates chose him to lead them out to collect their A League winners trophy at Sixfields Stadium.

Jack is currently on a clinical trial and takes fortnightly trips to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London for invasive and painful treatment. His unwavering strength, positivity and sense of humour is an inspiration to all those around him.

We're cycling our tandem from Scarborough to Weedon in Northamptonshire at the end of August, camping along the way with the generous support of Swift, the UK's largest manufacturer of motorhomes and touring caravans (www.swiftgroup.co.uk).
