Fundraising for Creating Better Futures (CBF)
Story
Thank you for visiting my page! With your support, we can change the lives of girls in Africa through education. Why education? Due to my personal experience, I believe that it is a long-term solution to poverty. I was sponsored to go to school, college and all the way up to university. I wouldn't be where I am today without the kindness of others.
I am particularly passionate about empowering girls as they do not always have the same opportunities as boys. During their "time of the month" many rural girls miss school because they cannot afford feminine hygiene products. They resort to using unhygienic alternatives such as rags, used paper, compacted grass, layers of leaves... anything they can get hold of. The most heart-breaking experience is that of some girls digging holes in the fields and trying to “push out” their menstrual flow which causes severe cramps. Often they have no underwear to use, so going to school or being in public makes them very nervous. Sadly, in some communities, it is still taboo to talk about menstruation, girls feel embarrassed and fear being forced into marriage when they reach puberty.
When you educate a girl, you begin to change the face of a nation.*
£30 will provide a reusable sanitary pack for 1 term.
£50 will train for the 1 girl to make the pads herself.
£100 will provide the project a sewing machine and materials needed.
