Story
To mark my retirement I have signed up to cycle across the Rift Valley in Kenya, from Mount Kenya to Lake Victoria (approx 400km in 5 days). The cycle is to raise money for Breast, Cervical and Ovarian Cancer charities – I have to raise a minimum of £3500. Having lost friends to these cancers and having friends who have survived and rung the bell I want to raise money so more people can ring that bell.
Breast Cancer Now, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action are the three charities that will benefit from your generosity. While in Kenya we will visit the Faraja Cancer Support centre and £100 of our donations will go to this local charity.
I am hoping my husband, Leslie, will train with me and we will both become more cycle fit and lose some weight!!
Fund raising has not been as easy as I thought it would be - COVID has cancelled my Race Night and Coffee Morning. I had also thought about bag packing nearer Christmas. I have resorted to making face masks and selling them. I am now on Christmas Face masks and they are proving popular- but a lot of work. My sewing machine has never worked so hard!!
I thank you again for your donation and, although a little scared, I am looking forward to this incredible challenge.
