Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, in loving memory of Dawn Eagle.

Dawn, my partner for the last 28 years, my wife for almost 20 years, and mother of our two wonderful children, Martin and Joanna, sadly lost her life to cancer on August 26th 2019.

Dawn introduced me to Milton Country Park shortly after it was opened in 1993, and when we moved to Milton in 1996 it quickly became part of our lives.  As a zoologist, Dawn loved the diversity of flora and fauna right on our doorstep, the combination of woodland and lakes, and the loving way that the space had been reclaimed from its former industrial past.  She taught me a deep appreciation of nature on our many regular visits to the park.  When our children were born, we would regularly go for walks with them, at first with prams and pushchairs, and as they got older, they would ride their bikes, go climbing in the woods, play with their friends and have ice creams at the visitor centre.    The park became like a second home to our family, with the children learning the networks of paths by heart.

More recently, as Dawn's illness forced her to use a wheelchair, she would regularly "go for a trundle" around the park, returning with her wheelchair covered in mud and a broad smile on her face.  It really meant a lot to her to be able to escape, meet up with friends for a coffee and chat about the world.

Dawn always wished to give something back to MCP, and I thought that one fitting tribute on her behalf would be a picnic table at the Visitor Centre with wheelchair access.

Photographs of Dawn and tributes from her many friends and family are here:
