There is a common misconception that rescue animals are somehow damaged goods and have ended up at centers because they are dangerous, aggressive or sick. This could not be further from the truth. Every day pets arrive at Raystede due to a huge range of reasons including people moving, marital breakdown and death of an owner. Sometimes, in the case of the larger animals like horses, the previous owner simply can no longer cope with the cost of upkeep. Many arrive bewildered and distressed as the home they have always known has suddenly vanished and they find themselves in a strange new environment where nothing is familiar. 

The staff work tirelessly to support and care for each individual to make them feel secure and either prepare them for a new home or help them settle into a permanent sanctuary at the site. Your donation will help unwanted pets have the second chance at life they so richly deserve. It will mean Raystede can keep being there for animals who, through no fault of their own, have no where else to go. It will mean elderly horses, ponies and donkeys have a place of safety to spend their last years and it will help abused pets learn that humans can be about love, not pain.
