Story

We have been best friends for 32 years and have decided to challenge ourselves to put our running to some good use. We have chosen to support two charities which are close to both our hearts and our families.

Simon is Sarah’s amazing cousin who brought so much joy to youngsters as an inspiring teacher, teaching with passion and touching many lives. Simon died in a tragic paddle board accident in August 2020, aged just 42. The Simon Flynn Educational Foundation aims to ensure that Simon's passion for teaching will continue in his memory.

Both of us strongly believe that every child should have a positive experience with education, no matter what academic ability they have. As a teacher herself, Sarah is dedicating this run to Simon, and the money raised will go to support the work of the Foundation.

As parents to four beautiful children between us, we are very aware how fortunate we have both been to have the love and support of our family and friends on our journey. The money raised will go to support the work of OXPIP and the emotional and mental wellbeing of parents and babies who may not have the same support system around them.

OXPIP - Oxford Parent Infant Project, was founded in 1998 and is one of the founding parent-infant psychotherapy organisations in the UK. Helen, Ella’s mother, has worked for the charity since its inception and today is OXPIP’s CEO

The Simon Flynn Educational Foundation

The charity remembers Simon Flynn, an inspirational teacher & tutor. Simon’s passion was helping all children become resilient, confident, and happy learners. We partner with local schools, providing resources to help remove obstacles that prevent children from having the chance to learn and thrive.

OXPIP

OXPIP is unique in that it considers the emotional health of
the infant, as well as that of the parent. Research has shown that by focusing on the parent-child relationship during the formative stages of brain development, many future emotional and mental health problems can be prevented. https://www.oxpip.org.uk
