As many will know, and some may not.. My mother died in August 2015 after a hard and courageous battle against cancer.

In June 2015 I ran my first 5k for cancer research and my mum was so proud. I was spurred on to keep up my fitness and began running every night I could after we'd spent the day together at home or, eventually, after I'd visited her in the hospital. I even used to run all the way to the hospice and turn up sweating, she would tell me I was "mad" but I could see how happy it made her to see me so active.

When I entered the ballot for the London Marathon I told my Mum. We were both so hopeful I would get a place.

Unfortunately my mum passed away in August  before the ballot results were released. 

She never got to find out that I managed to get a place and as painful as that is to think about I know she would've been over the moon like I am.

The hospice where Mum spent her last few weeks provided so much support. Not only allowing us to feel reassured that mum was getting the care she needed but also being there to listen when it all got too much... Which it often did.

I can never thank them enough for helping us in our time of need and hopefully the money raised will at least give a little something back and ensure others will have the care we received when it's needed most!

Unfortunately due to an operation I had to postpone my entry into the 2016 marathon and luckily was able to defer until 2017. 

This is all in memory of my Mum, I want to make her proud.
