Story
On 21st May 2017 I will be doing a junior aquathlon to raise money for SARS (Suffolk Accident and Rescue Service). Last year I did my first junior triathlons but haven't tried an aquathlon yet. At Stradbroke Aquathlon I will swim 120m then run 1.5km, all as fast as I can. Please sponsor me for SARS because they help people at accidents and save lives in Norfolk and Suffolk - more information below. Thank you.
From Ellie, age 8, Tri-Anglia Triathlon Club
With special thanks to Active Outdoor Sport for my place in the Stradbroke Tri Star Aquathlon and their support of SARS.
"SARS volunteer doctors, anaesthetists and paramedics are mobilised,
by the Ambulance Service's Critical Care Desk, to specific types of incident where patients could benefit from the presence of an enhanced pre-hospital resource. The majority of the patients that they attend are in a critical condition and need urgent and specialist medical care to keep them alive or stabilise their condition en route to hospital.
In addition to helping save lives, the presence of a SARS specialist at
an incident scene can also reduce the chances of patients suffering
permanent disability or unnecessary pain. SARS are active in Suffolk and parts of Norfolk, particularly near the borders. During the last year they have also attended several incidents in Norwich.
SARS currently responds to between 250-300 call-outs a year, and the responders give up their time freely to do this. SARS does not receive any central government funding and so relies on donations to support its work."
