Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Peanut ward at Queen Victoria Hospital is a Paediatric ward which cares for children who have sustained burns.
Each year the staff on Peanut Ward organise a weekend away for 28 children which is called ‘CREW’. This weekend away is for
any child who has been through a traumatic accident, resulting in anything from a minor to a major injury e.g. scar to the loss of a limb.
This activity weekend gives them the opportunity to experience events they may have never have been exposed to before, even swimming, due to their injuries.
Many of the children have low self esteem due to poor body image and have reported that this is the only time they feel normal like other children.
Without financial assistance the organisers would be unable to plan, execute and sustain this event. Since joining QVH I have been inspired by the passion and care of the ward staff on Peanut particularly their drive to go the extra mile.
Therefore, I have decided to complete my first race since 2016! Please join me in donating to this spectacular cause and helping as many children as possible to have an amazing weekend, gain
confidence, make friends and have life long memories to cherish.
