Story

In the UK, around 1 in 100 people suffer from epilepsy. Around two in every 100,000 people are diagnosed with motor neurone disease each year.

That makes the Spiller family pretty rare and rather special. I've suffered from epilepsy since I was a small child. I've suffered seizures on escalators, in the bath, in main roads and in the office.

It's a scary chronic illness but I've been lucky. Epilepsy needs funding for research to help people get the treatment they need to live long, happy lives.

My darling daddy died from motor neurone disease in August 2020. A ghastly disease where treatment has barely changed in decades. As there is no cure for MND, treatment focuses on relieving the symptoms and managing the progression of the disease. The pandemic has made access to support incredibly challenging.

So my mum and I are teaming up with our superstar supporter Alex to complete a relay triathlon for our brains (and legs!)

On Saturday 24th April as a trio we will be completing:

15 mile run
+ 10 mile walk + 1.2 mile stair climb (or the equivalent of 2, 500 individual stairs!)

We're hoping to raise £200 each. Thank you for reading our story.
