Beryl’s Story:
Beryl was born at Christmas with her two sisters, Minnie and Tilly Mae. At just six months old, their mum Betsy was only a baby herself. Unwanted by their previous owner, Yorkshire Cat Rescue didn’t hesitate to take them in. Despite the valiant efforts of their foster mum, and some intensive vet care, Tilly Mae and Minnie were too tiny and sadly died.
Poor Betsy didn’t have enough milk to feed her remaining baby, so Beryl was fed every two hours, day and night, by the vet team. She was a little fighter and was finally allowed home, where her dedicated foster mum continued her care.
All was going well, but just as she was weaning, Beryl started showing signs of devastating cat flu. Already small due to her poor start to life, she quickly went downhill. Brave Beryl was admitted to the vet hospital where she spent over a week in intensive care. Her life was so close to being snuffed out, but she continued to battle the horrible virus.
Yorkshire Cat Rescue wanted to do everything they could to save her, and not a penny was spared in giving her the best vet treatment available. Finally, she was well enough to continue her recovery at home. She still has a long way to go, and requires constant care until she is well enough to start feeding and cleaning herself properly.
Despite her awful start to life, the love and care given to little Beryl by Yorkshire Cat Rescue has kept her fighting spirit alive, and enabled her to battle a truly awful disease. Her vet bill is enormous, and with more treatment needed, we (her foster parents) want to help raise the money to save her. We have never given up on her, and she has never given up in return.
Your help is vital for Beryl to blossom and live the full and healthy life every kitten deserves.
Please help us to keep Beryl fighting!
Thank you.
