Story
Back in January, Caroline and I (again) spoke about getting fit and said why don't we take part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival weekend. This is pretty much an annual conversation that we have and then don't do anything about it. This year however we signed up!
After a couple of weeks of psyching ourselves up, we got off our couches, got our trainers on and headed out to start our 19 weeks of training. Training has been going reasonable well and we've managed to survive a bout of flu and the horrific winter weather. We still have a fair few miles to get under our belts, but hope to be race ready on the day!!
We need your support to get us over the finish line and we'd love to raise a ton of money for Calums Cabin in the process. Calums Cabin is a holiday retreat on the Isle of Bute for children suffering from cancer to come with their families, to spend quality time together and make irreplaceable memories.
Calum Speirs was born on 18th November 1994, one minute before his beloved younger twin sister Jenna. Calum was a fit and healthy young man until January 2006 when his first symptoms were spotted. Within 3 days Calum was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. Calum's treatment included chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which Calum handled with great courage, dignity and humour for someone so young. Calum was an inspiration to all who knew and met him, he always laughed, smiled and thought of others. CALUMS CABIN was Calum's idea, knowing he and his family lived in a beautiful part of the world, wouldn’t it be great to have children suffering from cancer come to Bute and make special irreplaceable memoires.
