Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Dyslexia affects people, both adults and children in more ways than just a difficulty with reading and writing, as it is widely perceived. It can affect a person's confidence, education paths and career choices which have a rippling effect on day to day life.

I struggled academically as a result, as I was always behind my peers.  Even as an adult, I found it very hard to admit that I was dyslexic, as I felt it would affect my career progression and that people would think I was less capable than others.

This is not widely known, and the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) are at the forefront of changing the views of Dyslexia and supporting those with Dyslexia and help them overcome numerous barriers to make a full contribution to society.

I had struggled with my education all my life and did not know why. I was only diagnosed with dyslexia during my second year at University 2004 (21 years old). But since identifying I was dyslexic, the BDA were able to help support me better with my education and work life.

I will also be representing a Cycling team RTFI (Ride The Island) who are based in Singapore and some of the members are participating for other charities to help raise money too.

For me, what better way to say thank you than to participate in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 to raise money for BDA who have assisted me throughout the years.

Added bonus, I am making my return back to the UK after being away for over 8 years!
