Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This page is run by EpicKidz - the official charity of the LL50 who donate monies to several local charities. All of the donations received to my page will be given to the MND Association.
Many of you will know that I run....but this time it's a little different. I'm running the lakeland 50 on 27 July solo to raise money for the MND association. It's a 50 mile race from Dalemain in the north to Coniston in the south with about 3000m of ascent. It starts at 11 am so I'll be running well into the night (scary bears solo in the dark)
Some of you will already know that MND has touched our family. Roger, my step dad (who is a dad to me!) was diagnosed just over a year ago, he was always very active belying his 80 years (!) Loves carpentry, walking, the vegetable patch and gardening; and it's been heartbreaking to see how this indiscriminate disease has taken all of this away, along with ability to verbally communicate, eat, and his mobility in such a short space of time. The MND association has provided invaluable support, advice and equipment that are real life changers; without it he could not stay home or continue day to day. They also support health professionals who assist our family and my mum who is caring full time. We are not alone. Many people each year are diagnosed across a huge age spectrum and with many different ways MND affects them. The MND Association is there for all, and I wanted to do something toward raising funds to support the incredible work they do. Epic kidz will donate all of the money raised here to the MNDA on my behalf so please - anything you can give will help to keep me going through the night and into the morning as I journey across the lake district.
Sadly, since this was written Roger passed away, and I shall be running in his memory, raising funds to support others on their journey.
