EVELYNS BIRTH STORY.
10 days before Evelyn's due date, I had a haemorage at home which was caused by Valementous cord insertion. Evelyn lost a lot of blood whilst still in the womb. During the first hour of her life she had 3 blood transfusions and was resuscitated twice.
She was kept on a ventilator that kept her breathing and was helping her organs to function.
We never thought we would have to make a decision like we were asked too but after lots of consideration and advice from her consultant we decided to turn Evelyns life support off. She was kept comfortable and pain free with morphine.
She gave us a further 9 hours once she came off the ventilator. She had cuddles with mummy and daddy, felt the warmth of our skin. Heard us sing lullabies. We bathed her and showered her with kisses until she passed away peacefully in my arms the following day.
"Some people only dream of angels. We held one in our arms"
Any money raised will be for the neo natal ward that cared for Evelyn. We have never met such a dedicated team in our life. They showed so much love, professionalism and compassion. They shared some of our precious moments with Evelyn before she died and we will forever be grateful to them. They went above and beyond their call of duty!
We hope by raising money towards equipment on the ward it will not only help save lives of other special babies but it will help us on our grieving journey by giving something back.
