Story

Dear Friends,

We are 6 officer cadets at The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. We are looking forward to the 29th of March when we will be shivering on the steps of Old College, Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst at dawn. We will then run the 52 miles to Southampton Hospital. Wish us luck!

Please join us en-route or at the main entrance of Southampton Hospital where we will arrive at 3pm on 29th March. The officer cadets taking part are Harry Keville (team leader), Greg Newton-Jones (2ic), Paul Kennedy, Ali Paterson, Tom Louden and Jon Cox. Full details of the route will be published soon on our Facebook page.

We are doing this in order to raise money for robbiesrally charity. The charity 100% funds the new service at Southampton. Called 'Robbie's Rehab', the service covers 12 hospitals in the South of England and channel islands. When doctors discharge the children home after their radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment, their recovery is only just beginning. They are often significantly damaged - psychologically and physically. Unfortunately unless the children are ill enough to be admitted to hospital, there is no budget within the NHS for outpatient or treatment.

This has all now changed and Robbie's Rehab fills the gap - treating children with brain tumours in the South. Building back their confidence through neuro-psychology, helping their co-ordination and stamina through occupational therapy, strengthening their tired bodies with specialist physiotherapy. Getting them smiling, riding bikes, playing and  ultimately getting them back to where they may never have thought they might be: to the games fields or simply back to school.

Robbie Keville himself died in 2016 from a brain tumour but not before he had the idea for the charity. The run is led by his brother, Harry, and we will all be remembering Robbie as we run for his cause on the day.

Thank you for your donation: 100% of all funds go towards Robbie's Rehab - we will be covering the costs of the event ourselves.
