Story

''The Mark Evison Foundation’s mission is to promote the personal development of young people through the undertaking of challenges.''

Our challenge entails physical and mental strengths. On our 100 mile trek we will be practicing reading maps, following some unmarkedtrails and taking care of ourselves through cooking meals and using first aid if need be. We are first time campers and so have hired a kit to aid us. We will need to learn to pitch and negotiate with some farm owners to allow us to pitch up for the night. This part may be difficult.

We chose to do a physical based challenge due to our lives mainly being centred around school. Sports days have never really been strong points and its tragic to say that usually girls stop playing regular sports after primary school. This challenge has allowed us time to train beforehand and for a purpose.

The trail from Winchester to Eastbourne is 100 miles long and would normally take 8-9 days to complete. We, however have set ourselves a goal of 7 days with a 1 day rest period. We will be walking on average 18-20 miles a day. This level of activity is strenuous and could be harmful without training. We have trained consistently for 4 weeks prior to the challenge tohelp us build endurance to achieve our goal. (walking miles within the London and woods).

To show our progress we will be posing daily on instagram with the tag  #markevisonfdn. Please follow us on this journey and donate to show appreciation to the Mark Evison Foundation.
