It is with great pride and even greater stupidity that my brother and I have decided to undertake the challenge of a lifetime by trying to complete the London Marathon 2014. It will be exactly 30 years ago that another Fat Stagg (our wonderful Dad) ran the London Marathon. At the time he was made mention of in the newspaper for raising enough money to buy a video cassette player for a local children's home. He completed the marathon setting an impressive time of little over 4 hours.

OUR GOAL: To raise £3300 (£1650 each) for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) by completing the London Marathon exactly 30 years after our dad did the same in a time of 4 hours or less.

We will be committing ourselves to a rigorous 6 months training schedule beginning now till April next year that will require the two Fat Staggs to move more than we care to comprehend at this stage. This will include 4 days of running, 1 day of aerobics and stretching plus 1 day of cross training per week. Covering many many miles we will also be participating in two half marathons in the build up. All our pain, sweat and tears will be well documented along the way in our attempt to raise as much money as possible...

The Royal National Institute of Blind People has kindly offered the two Fat Staggs guaranteed entry places seeing fit (from over 1200+ applicants and only 100 places available!) that we might be able to make a good go of it and we don't intend to let them down.
