My story isn’t as horrific as many other women’s stories and I’m lucky that I didn’t need the support of a charity but it goes through my mind every day thinking of how I would have coped had I been destitute trying to flee from my aggressor, how I would have coped with two children, how I would have coped with everything they and I knew was stripped from us for safety. For safety. Something that in your own home should be taken for granted. That’s your haven. Sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes it’s the place you least want to be in. This charity helps women and their children find a safe place they need, to help them rebuild, they’re a lifesaver. I hope nobody needs to ever get in touch with them but it’s good to know they’re there for us.
