Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In 2016 we’re participating in a special event – the 30th anniversary of the Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay. The event is a 24-hour cycle relay over 520km from the top to the bottom of Victoria (Echuca to Port Fairy).
The event holds a special place in the heart of our team leader and 2x Olympic Silver Medallist, Michelle Ferris. The Murray to Moyne was Michelle’s very first introduction to cycling. In 1990, she joined the Warrnambool St John of God Team. The team needed extra riders so came to Michelle’s school to recruit. When she learnt she would get a day off school, Michelle signed up straight away! And the rest, as they say, is history. This event kicked started her successful cycling career which is why she’s formed this team for the 30th anniversary of the event. And aptly, we’ve named our team ‘Ferris Wheeler’s Day Off’.
The major goal of the Murray to Moyne is to raise much needed funds for local health related services. Our chosen charity is the Leila Rose Foundation, based in Warrnambool, but helping kids and families all over Australia who have been affected by rare childhood cancer.
All proceeds of our fundraising activities will go directly to the Leila Rose Foundation and our hope is to support as many children and families as we possibly can… and we need your help to do this!
