Thanks for visiting the page folks! In recent weeks I was thinking about what I could do to raise funds for charity and decided that it would have to be something challenging but fun at the same time. So, I've decided to climb the five highest peaks in kerry in five days. I'll be starting with the Purple Mountain on the 30th of June, moving on to Mangerton, then Mount Brandon, Cnoc Na Péiste and finishing on a high with Carrauntoohill. 

My chosen charity is Recovery Haven Kerry Cancer Support House. For over 10 years, they been offering free emotional and psychological support to cancer patients, their families and carers through phone support, counselling, complementary therapies, courses, classes & group activities, all administered by recognised professionals. 

Almost 90 per cent of the charity’s income is generated through fundraising, which has been hugely impacted upon by Covid19 restrictions both in 2020 and into 2021

Despite the challenges, Recovery Haven has successfully adapted to a new way of operating and continues to offer support to those affected by cancer through online counselling, online classes including Creative Writing, Cancer Thrive & Survive programme & Men’s & Women’s Support Groups, Look Good Feel Better classes, Pilates, Mindfulness, Stretch & Balance & Yoga. 

The charity’s wig clinic remains operational, adhering to the strictest guidelines for the safety of their clients. 

Despite the challenges of Covid19, Recovery Haven provided support services for 683 individuals in 2020, including 660 counselling sessions and 826 attendances at their classes, groups and support programmes.
