Help transform The Pankhurst Centre, the UK's dedicated Suffragette Museum and the home of Manchester Women's Aid, during the centenary of the first women gaining the right to vote

Story

100 women runners, including myself, will be running shoulder-to-shoulder during the Greater Manchester Run on 20 May... 1 woman for each year (some) women have had the right to vote!

We are helping to raise funds & share the message of the Pankhurst Centre – which houses the UK’s only museum dedicated to the suffrage movement as well as Manchester Women’s Aid .

The Women’s Social and Political Union was founded in the former home of Emmeline Pankhurst at 60-62 Nelson Street, Manchester, now The Pankhurst Centre. This is the real building where a historical event happened that defined a pivotal change in our ideas of citizenship. Emmeline was a single parent at the time, she had a part-time job, and she started a revolutionary movement. This is an inspirational story that needs to be told, yet the Museum is currently staffed by volunteers and receives no public funding, instead relying on donations.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Thanks to your donation, we can continue to tackle gender equality, and ensure that the powerful story of the women who won the vote continues to inspire and empower generations to come.

The Pankhurst is the birthplace of the Suffragette movement and the only museum in the UK that exclusively celebrates and recognises the valour and commitment of women’s suffrage and the on-going fight for women’s rights.
