Story
We are two friends from the South of Wiltshire, who have known each other for coming up to a decade. We are walking 200 miles around the entire Wiltshire border, in order to raise money for the charity, Wiltshire Mind.
During the coronavirus lockdown, we have both greatly appreciated the ability to get out and freely exercise in the countryside. However, we really wanted to take it one step further, and in the process do some good.
Mental health is a problem close to our hearts, and recently due to the COVID-19 crisis many people are suffering from increased anxiety and depression due to isolation from their loved ones, disruption of their routines, loneliness and financial difficulties. We wanted to do the best we can to raise awareness and much needed funds to help the fabulous local charity, Wiltshire Mind.
Wiltshire Mind is a charity that raises awareness and helps people dealing with mental health issues. Their work covers the whole county, and provides individual and group counselling, as well as other activities for people who suffer from mental health issues, from art and dance to internet sessions.
Our walk is going to be split into sections, each being no less than 20 miles a day, therefore, aiming to walk the whole boundary in a total of 10 days. We'll be staying as close to the border as possible, straying no further than 2km (except for a 5km detour around the military danger area in Tidworth!). We will travel clockwise, starting and finishing in the South West.
Any donations would be much appreciated, we hope that you can support our journey to help as much as we can.
