On Wednesday 6th May 2015, our best friend was unsuspectingly diagnosed with a rare type of cancer. Valentina Colaluca is 26 years old and courageously battling non-hodgkins lymphoma. In times like this, your strength is tested and all we have seen from Valentina so far is bravery, strength and fight. In order to symbolise the uphill battle that is upon her, and her family and best friends, we will be climbing Croy Hill and the Antonine Wall in July. Everyone and anyone who knows and loves this incredible fighter is welcome to join her closest friends and family on this climb. We will be carrying a stone with her initials carved into it, taking turns holding it as we climb. We will leave the stone at the top so that, on a day of her choice, and when she is fully recovered, Valentina can climb this mountain with those who supported her and retrieve her stone. It will symbolise the climb she faced and the battle she won. We are also, however, doing this mountain climb in order to raise money for The Beatson Cancer Charity. The Beatson Cancer Hospital in Glasgow has been taking excellent care of our bestie since the week she was given this news. They are working incredibly hard to maintain a comfortable environment where Valentina can feel safe and supported in every way so that her main focus is her fight. They have also had to put up with the entire Scottish Italian population in recent weeks and the corridors consistently smelling of pizza and pasta...
