A few years ago, my cousin Leanne was diagnosed with a rare lung disease called Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). I would imagine few of you will have heard of this disease as only 7 in one million, usually young women, are affected, and just 200 are known to have the disease in the UK. With its rarity, no governmental funds and currently no cure, LAM Action need help which is why I want to raise money so they can continue their research and potentially save my cousin’s life.

You can read about LAM in details here, http://lamaction.org/, but in short it is a life-limiting disease caused by excessive growth of muscle cells which progressively destroy lung tissue and erode lung function. This results in breathlessness and a difficulty to carry on with day-to-day tasks. It can eventually lead to respiratory failure, dependence on oxygen and death or a lung transplant in 10-15 years.

Leanne carries on with life with such enthusiasm and positivity, she is an inspiration to us all. Raising money for the research means so much to me and my family. 

I will be running a 10k in Olympic Park on 12th Feb and the Wembley half marathon on 12th March in preparation for the big day!
