We support children with special needs to help achieve their individual potential

Story

As part of the Romford Recorder's Fundraise on the First campaign with children's charity First Step, we're asking Havering schools, clubs, businesses and individuals to dress in Christmas jumpers on December 18 and make a small donation.

Participants are asked to donate a minimum of £2 to the campaign, either through this page or by text. To donate by text, text RCDR50 £2 to 70070. To donate more change £2 to £3, £4, £5, or £10.

If you're taking part please email emma.lake@archant.co.uk and don't forget to email or tweet your pictures to @romfordrecorder

First Step, in Tangmere Crescent, Hornchurch, supports the families of pre-school children with special needs and disabilities, but the charity relies solely on donations and needs more than £500,000 a year to run. Staff would love to offer extra services to meet demand, but need your help to do so.

The Recorder launched its campaign in January and, since then, the newspaper, First Step and the community have together raised more than £44,000. Previous events have included Brookside Theatre's show Nights on Broadway, quizzes and bake-offs.
