Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Tracy Jones Memorial Fund on Just Giving.

This fund has been established with the kind agreement of Victim Support.  All the money raised for this fund will go directly to support Cailin Van Straaten and Zach Jones, the surviving children of Tracy Jones and help them to build the new lives they desperately need.

On Monday 19th September 2011, at 04:30hrs a fire was started in an address in Broadheath, Altrincham. The family were asleep inside the address. The family involved consisted of the mother Tracy Jones and her children Shaun 15yrs, Cailin 18yrs and Zach 4yrs, all of whom were asleep inside the property and were rescued from the address.

Tracy's ex-partner died at the scene.

Tragically, Shaun died as a result of his injuries two days later.

Tracy was admitted to hospital with 83% burns, Cailin with 60% burns and Zach had 20% and all three were in a coma.

The house and everything inside was completely destroyed leaving the family with no belongings.

After a long fight to recover, Tracy finally lost her battle for life and she died on Friday 25th October 2011, leaving behind Cailin and Zach.

Cailin currently remains in hospital and is not expected to be released until mid 2012 such is the severity of her injuries. She undergoes daily treatment that is so painful that she sometimes needs to be sedated for pain management.

Zach has been released but he still returns to hospital 4 times a week to have his dressings changed as it is too painful for him to do at home. He has also had to move away from his friends and his school to live with his father in Oldham, who is now his full time carer.

Both Cailin and Zach have suffered tremendously in recent weeks, not just with the loss of their mother and brother, but with the horrendous injuries that they have suffered and continual painful rehabilitation that they are enduring.

This Trafford family has been ripped apart as a result of this tragic incident so in order for their lives to move forward, it is extremely important that everything is put back to normal as quickly as possible. We are attempting to do this by various fund raising events and donations from anybody who is willing to contribute.
