Story

our pain is their gain

JOGLE

This year, we have set ourselves a very ambitious target raising £50,000 by completing the Lands End to John O’Groats challenge… but not in the conventional manner!  The self titled JOGLE event will see the Barclaycard GPA team partake in walking, running. cycling, pogo-sticking, and even space-hopping down the country, through the reverse route of John O’Groats to Lands End.

More than 1,000 miles, through major cities, with over 200 colleagues visiting customers, army bases and famous landmarks, raising money to support this great cause.

help us to help them

Barclaycard Global Payment Acceptance (GPA) has chosen to support ABF: The Soldiers’ Charity.  We will be raising funds specifically for Individual Recovery Plans (IRPs), which addresses the needs of seriously wounded servicemen and women who are unable to continue active service, covering all aspects of recovery from medical and welfare, through to housing, education and employment.

Corporal Andy Reid (pictured) has served for 13 years with 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment. He is currently in rehabilitation following the severe injuries he received by an IED while serving in Afghanistan.  In order for him to recuperate at his home there was an urgent need for a wheelchair ramp and other adaptations.  The Soldiers’ Charity was able to make an immediate grant to cover this cost.

This is just one of the many ways the ABF has helped the rehabilitation of soldiers.  We would like your help to make more stories like this a reality.

One of the cornerstones of the recovery programme within the Army is education.  The money we will provide will make a real difference to the soldiers and through Barclays dedication to community, all donations will be matched pound-for-pound, so every penny which you donate will have double the impact to The Soldiers’ Charity.

Your donations can make a real difference:

- £600 covered the cost of Private Tamba Konteh’s one-on-one tuition in preparation for his Maths GCSE examination, providing him with essential numeracy skills which are often a minimum requirement for a job.

- £1,600 paid for a place on a Business Start-Up Programme for Rifleman Paul.

- £3,894 helped Guardsman Dean Pickard gain a professional welding qualification.

Thank you so much for your generous contribution, we know this will make a huge difference to both The Soldiers’ Charity and the servicemen and women they support.
