Hello, I will be running 2.6 miles (4.2Km) on Saturday the 30th May to raise much needed funds for the Friends of Worthing Hospitals. 

You will probably know that the National 2.6 Challenge is in response to many charities losing donations that they may have received from the London Marathon, now cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

My run may not seem very far, compared to a marathon, but believe me, it is when you are 75. 

The Friends of Worthing Hospitals is a charity which provides a life saving role for thousands of local people by providing medical equipment, specialist furniture for the wards, dementia packages, scanners (including a state of the art CT Scanner), respiratory equipment, ECG machines and high tech equipment for the Cardiac Suite. They have also provided our local mental health hospitals with an outside gym and various items to enhance the wellbeing of the elderly.

Currently many charities are quite rightly supporting the NHS front line staff directly, but the Friends provides a different type of support which provides the staff with items they need to carry out their vital roles and ultimately provides the patients with the best care. The Friends often raises and spends in excess of £150,000 a year.
