Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm going in again!!!! After the success of the Brighton Marathon 2016 fundraising, I have officially started training for the Asics Manchester Marathon 2017.....and it doesn't stop there.....I will also be tagging in various other challenges into this throughout the year!!! So far to include the Baldock Beast, WGC Half Marathon and 5 half marathons in 5 days in June - all of which will be sponsored by Matt Bean and Jeff Pridmore at the great Carnita Carnitas!!!!!!
Most people who know me will also either know or know of my great friend Justine Peters. She is one brave lady who suffers from a very rare brain disorder called Chiari Malfunction which has affected her all her life. It was only a few year ago that she was made aware of her condition which has resulted in her unable to continue working as a popular hairdresser in Hitchin.
Justine's condition is caused from swelling in her brain which has caused pressure forcing her brain downward in her skull. Surgery has allowed her brain to continue to grow through the bottom of her skull, but leaves her struggling with simple day-to-day tasks. Amazingly, Justine carries on coping - a real trooper. Regular check ups will now be a part of the rest of her life.
Justine and I would like to continue to raise the awareness of this very low profile condition and try to help others struggling with this disorder. The photo on this page was taken after her operation so you can see for yourselves the extend of it.
So please help me to help my amazing friend and others in her position. I will be running the marathon solo this time round so all support will be greatly received!!!!! I also have a personal achievement to fulfil this time round and anyone who knows what I am like will not be surprised that I will be attempting to smash my personal best from last year! Wish me luck!!!
