Story
In a moment of madness last year, I applied to run the London Marathon. I was inspired by a friend and colleague who ran it in 2018 (Shelby Akosa - I am looking at you!!) I have been training since January and it is getting really hard. I had to go out for 3hrs at the weekend and they need to get a longer before race day! By a bad coincidence on the first day of my training back in January my dad was in cardiac intense care at the Royal Sussex County Hospital having undergone major heart surgery – surgery that wouldn’t have even been possible a few years ago. The NHS were incredible. The care and attention my dad received from the staff was faultless. However, it was clear the hospital was stretched and the beds were in short supply (he was sent home way too soon). I am running the London Marathon to help make a tiny dent in a very stretched yet incredible system. If any money raised helps that department to continue to care and make wonderful people like my dad better that is an incredible cause to me.
Please dig deep to help me around that 26 mile slog!
Also, running for my incredibly inspiring and sporty husband who has been out of action for the past 8 months due to crippling spine problems. He is recovering from surgery at the moment and I will gladly hand over the baton of sport to him when he is back on his feet after the 26th April. Never thought I’d wish him into Lyrca but turns out I can’t wait. xx
