On Sunday 24th March I will be running through central London proudly wearing my Wac Arts running vest.  

Wac Arts is a charity that provides performing arts and creative media opportunities for young people of all abilities and backgrounds aged 5 - 26, especially those who face barriers to opportunity, whether physical, social or economic.  

I have been working at Wac Arts for the past 2 ½ years and see first-hand how important their programmes are for young people. One area of work which particularly stands out is the Disability and Inclusion Programme, this year young refugees & asylum seekers showcased a
360-degree film and live immersive performance, and young people with mild to moderate disabilities co-designed and created an accessible interactive video game.  

As you all know I am an advocate for the importance of the creative arts. For me, drama, theatre and performance allowed me to build confidence, learn invaluable lessons and make life-long friends. 

Wac Arts enables all of these things, it provides a safe and supportive environment for young people to learn new skills and express themselves creatively, especially important at a time when youth services continue to face challenges and cutbacks, and arts subjects in school curriculums are squeezed.
