Story
On the 29th July I shall be doing a 13,500 foot sky-dive with a fellow member of the Haberdasher's Company in order to raise funds for the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment Benevolent Fund. I am doing this as I believe they are a very worthy charity that provide crucial support for the men and families that have served our country. (Plus I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie, so couldn't miss such an irresistible opportunity to leap out of a plane!)
The Princess of Wales Royal Regiment ("The Tigers") is our local infantry regiment, and also one to which the Haberdashers' Company are proud to be affiliated. They have defended Britain's interests with great honour all over the world and have been involved in every theatre of war since WW2, including most recently in Afghanistan. They are one of the most decorated regiments for gallantry, having been awarded 57 VCs as well as MCs and many other awards. This is an opportunity to show our support and appreciation to them by contributing to their welfare fund, which supports members of the Regiment and their families through difficult times, including those who have been severely injured in the course of their duties.
When the PWRR asked the Haberdashers' Company for volunteers, I leapt at the opportunity and have been counting down the days since.
All I ask from you, is to please assist me in fundraising for this fabulous charity, all those it helps and all those involved. Anything at all you could donate, no matter how little or small, is greatly and deeply appreciated.
Many thanks,
Georgia Peck
