Event: London Marathon 2019, on 28 April 2019
In memory of Jem Nightingale

Story

I've been very lucky and got a place in the London Marathon through the ballot.

I will only ever run one marathon so it means a lot.

I'll be running to raise money for a charity doing good, empowering, green work in Kenya.

Kenya was Jem's spiritual home; he lived there as a child, and returned there as an adult. I was lucky enough to share some great times with him there; and to see how passionate he was about his environmental work, which is why raising money for this charity seems such a good and positive way to remember him.

Anything you can donate will be very gratefully received x

About the charity

The Green Belt Movement (GBM) was founded by Wangari Maathai in 1977. It uses tree planting as an entry point for communities to take action on issues of land rights, environment and livelihoods. GBM works on climate change policy on forests on behalf of rural communities internationally.
