Story
Anyone who knows me will know that running isn't something that comes easy to me. I'm not tall, long-legged and of athlete build, I'm short, stumpy and more of a plodder.
Every run I manage to complete, no matter the distance, I find hard and challenging. This year I have decided to take on the challenge of the London Marathon, thanks to the encouragement of my lovely friend Rose. Being unsuccessful in securing a ballot spot (4th year in a row!) I was delighted and thankful to Family Action offering me one of their charity spaces.
You may not know much about this charity but they do wonderful things for the most vulnerable of children and families in the UK. Families facing challenges such as living in poverty, experiencing mental health issues, or caring for a child with a special educational need. Each year they support over 45,000 families providing the emotional, practical, and financial support they need to tackle the challenges they face and build a brighter future.
I hope you can support me in taking on this challenge, to raise some very valuable funds . No one knows if and when we may need this type of support ourselves and it's reassuring to know that there are people out there who can offer this help.
In return for your sponsorship I promise to train very hard over the next 15 weeks (the training plan is tough!) and do my best to be in the best condition I can to cross that finish line.
Thank you in advance!
Lots of Love, Ger xxxx
