Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In May 2022, I am running 78 miles over 3 days (that’s 3 marathons!!) along the north Devon coast path from Hartland to Porlock with my good friend Sara.
Sara and I love a challenge and thought this was a fantastic way to raise some money for two great local charities, Ask for Jake and The Wave Project.
The run will physically and emotionally challenge us, and while we fully intend to run the whole way, we may find we crawl over the finish line. But finish it we will!
We would love to have your support, both financially and morally. Any cake donations will also be appreciated!
I believe Ask for Jake is such a good local charity. It provides support, advice and training to those who are struggling, and their peers. I feel strongly that having support available when needed, is of vital importance. The last two years have been very hard for a lot of people, and Ask for Jake can help support and guide those who need help.
- The basic aim of Ask for Jake is to be a much more accessible first point of contact for individuals who are struggling or for those concerned for others.
- The first objective is to provide an unofficial network of support people and volunteers with basic training through peer groups, clubs and workplaces which is aimed at reaching and supporting anyone who is struggling and helping to avoid escalation of any mental health issue.
- This initiative is not solely about suicide but includes all challenges including self-harming, eating and behaviour issues, drug and alcohol dependency and any other issue which manifests in the first instance.
- Ask for Jake plan to introduce a community training program which is open to anyone in community. Ask for Jake provides a network of local businesses, coaches, community leaders and just general people where anyone can ‘Ask for Jake’ which will prompt immediate support on a personal and community-led basis.
Please read the link relating to the charity for more information on the great work that Ask for Jake do.
