Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I often hear my Dad - Pops- say ‘I had Polio as a child’ to explain his disability – or as he puts it – why he walks ‘funny’.
A childhood disease that we now routinely vaccinate against, yet not until its cruel impact hit thousands of babies and children throughout the UK, Operations and treatments lay ahead for the sufferers leaving them permanently physically disabled.
Do these people complain? No.
Do they see themselves as victims? No.
Instead they are a proud, strong, determined, resilient bunch who raise funds to support each other through their adversities.
An amazing organisation has helped those left to cope with the aftermath of the disease in the form of the British Polio Fellowship. A fellowship because they support each other through not only living with the disabilities but also through the legacy of the repercussions in later life left over from the latent disease, Post Polio Syndrome. This organisation provides support, advice, assistance and an understanding of the complications.
A WOLF run seemed a great way to raise funds for such an amazing organisation, although doing it once didn’t quite seem enough of a challenge for some of us. Therefore we’ve decided to do it twice, doubling the challenge.
On Saturday 5th November Vikki Alder, Dave Vile, Liam Duncombe, Edina Bye and myself are doing just that.
It's a humbling honour to try to raise some funds that will directly support the local branches of Liverpool and Birmingham along with the Fellowship as a whole.
Your help and support would be awesome and if you’d like to sponsor that would be great.
