I work in a preschool and once looked after a little boy who has this condition, i learnt first hand how much this small charity, along with the NHS helped with his hearing and speech development during his early years development. Microtia UK is a very small charity which is the only one to support those born with Microtia in the UK.I would love to raise awareness and money to help this wonderful charity. Thank you x

Amani's story......

On the 12th March 2017 my son Hugo was born with Microtia, a congenital condition whereby a baby is born with a small and malformed external ear. As a result of this condition, Hugo’s ear canal in his right ear did not fully form leaving him deaf on that side.

Hugo wears a hearing aid called a BAHA which is fitted to a head band and he will eventually have a more permanent solution fitted when he is a little older. Eventually, Hugo will undergo surgery to reconstruct the external part of his ear using cartilage taken from his rib cage.

So that I can give Hugo all the love, support and guidance he will ever need, I began to research Microtia. It was then that i came across the charity Microtia UK. This wonderful charity have already provided myself and many other families with much needed comfort, advice, knowledge, reassurance and support.

It is now my intention to support Microtia UK and the fantastic work they do by raising awareness of the condition.
