Story
Yes, you did just read that! In less than three weeks the three of us are hoping to complete a half marathon at Hampton Court. It might seem an achievable feat for some, but given the three of us have only put on our trainers 13 times since the start of the year, it's going to be tough!
Nonetheless, we are determined to drag ourselves over the finish line for a good cause. The three of us are running for the National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA). Set up in 1990, this charity offers support and advice to children where one or both their parents suffer from alcoholism. One in five children in the UK are affected by a parent drinking. NACOA offers them a helping hand when they need it most.
No donation is to small - it all helps. Even by reading this post you've helped NACOA in raising awareness of how many people are affected by family members with alcohol related illnesses. For this we thank you for!
Despite our lack of training, failing to do anything that our training programmes have told us to and our stupidity for thinking we could be prepared to run 13 miles after seven weeks of training, we are going try our best for a great cause.
In case you would like to support us on the day, we are running at Hampton Court on Sunday 21 February. The race starts pretty early but we wouldn't worry about getting to the finish line before dusk! Finally, more info about NACOA can be found here: http://www.nacoa.org.uk
Thanks so much for any donation that you make.
