My story: First of all I want to start by thanking everyone who in the past and still is supporting me for my fundraising. Six years have passed so quickly and as a friend said to me had I not had my loss I would not have been able to help as many people as I have since losing Les with his fight with cancer. It was a wish of Les to help children and give them a chance in their last days, months, years. We do not know until we suffer a loss as to how much it affects us and our lives and families.

I was given a book  by a lady who sadly lost her husband to cancer also, I had met John and his wife on a number of occasions in the RVI.  John had been diagnosed with Leukaemia and was waiting for his bed and this is when he came across Les in the patients lounge. A quote from John's book about Les, People come and go out of our lives, that appears to be the way of our journey through life...  I went on to read about Les, in which John gave Les a name of Jeff for confidentiality. Les had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer and we were told there was no cure, yet Les gave support and comfort and tried to allay any fears John had over his forthcoming chemotherapy. What John has said in his book Quote... I couldn't have asked for more at that moment in time, entering a whole new world I was given my own personal tour guide.  I was in tears reading this.. but tears of pride as to how, Les, as ill as he was, gave so much comfort to a stranger. Sadly John passed away 2 years after Les in the February of 2011.

I have gained so much strenght myself from helping raise money for charity, something as I said previously Les wanted.

I had the opportunity to support this amazing charity and with your support raised just under £13k. I have decided to sign up and work for the charity again in 2016. I have achieved an Allendale Challenge and my first GREAT NORTH RUN in 2014 sadly I had to pull out of this year due to a fall at work in the RVI  I have damaged my hip I know that my Gentle Giant will be with me and supporting every step on my way.

Below is what Josie's Dragonfly does:

The Dragonfly Project raises funds for Josie’s Dragonfly Trust to help brighten the lives of children and young people living with cancer.  The Trust grants Cash Gifts and “Dragonfly Dreams” which help young people receiving palliative care to create special memories with loved ones when time is precious. Money may go towards allowing them to do or own something they have always wanted, buy gifts to leave behind for younger siblings, or simply have some fun with family and friends. The difference that these gifts can make to these individuals and their families is immeasurable, and donations are hugely important in helping the work of the Trust to continue.

So please if you would like to support me and Josie's Dragonfly you can by either sponsoring on line or by text this is free to text and the only cost is the cost of the donation.  FLOS55 £  amount to 70070 or via my justgiving page Gina Dunn.

Thank you for taking time in reading my story:  Kind regards Gina x
