Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I signed up for the September ride because I wanted to, friends are doing it too and I chose prostate cancer because I know much work needs doing to raise awareness.
Not long after my dad got results from test that suggests he may have prostate cancer.
We now have those results and he does indeed have cancer. We are very fortunate that it isn't agressive at this stage and he has started on treatment but this has really brought home how important early diagnosis is.
Through our own experience and events like this I hope to help raise awareness and funds to fight a curable disease that still claims the lives of far too many men.
Love and compassion count for everything when caring for each other, but money sure helps when it comes to these times. Please donate what you can.
Thanks for reading and we know that there's a lot of love and support in our family and we will get through this together whatever the outcome - as you can when life pushes you.
As a BONUS for you donators I am adding more miles for your money - not just the 60 in September, also 210 this weekend )with a great group of guys from work) coast to Coast across Lancashire Cheshire Derbyshire and Yorkshire. Then 90 + miles next week connecting my work sites across East Lancashire. So with me you'll get over 6 times the amount of miles!!!!!
ULDATE :- The first leg of my 210 mile coast to coast was going great until 60 miles into the 80 mile stretch my front mudguard stays suddenly broke loose, hit the front tyre and burst it whilst locking the front wheel to a stop. The resulting crash left (on cobbles) left me with a swollen and burnt face from the friction. I was unable to sleep that night and was forced to quit the ride and unable to do the 90 miles at work.....
This has not put me off - there is no giving up, just giving......
I am now committing to cycle to work every day that I can in an attempt to rack up as many miles as possible, including a 70 mile round trip from home to Leeds yesterday - great until the last hour when the rain made my shoes and gloves into soggy cold sponges!!!
