We use the power of football to help young people achieve their goals.

Story

Whilst parking my car a few weeks ago, I saw an old friend on the pavement. Next thing I know I'm in his offices meeting the @FootballBeyondBorders team trying to work out how they use football for good.

I was impressed.. So impressed i'm running (/crawling) 26 miles for FBB?

Can we support them together? I'll run 😬 you donate 😇

What's good about them?

These guys run sessions for 300 South London kids a week - a mix of classroom time and football training. Kids complete projects, and celebrate their achievement by getting to meet footballers and get tickets to matches. And teachers see that FBB is having a tangible impact on school attendance and behaviour.

In truth I just like their approach. As a Montessori teacher we're trained to build curriculum that follow the child's interests. If these kids love football, then I love Football Beyond Borders for recognising that you can ride that passion and build the needed numeracy and literacy skills using football as your theme.

Football isn't the only language they speak, they've completely tapped into the way young people use social media, and that is the platform for which young people can have a voice when coached to communicate eloquently with confidence.

About the charity

We exist to change the lives of young people. There are thousands of young people who are passionate about football but are not fulfilling their potential at school. We provide long-term, intensive support, built around relationships and young people’s passions, in the classroom and beyond.
